Eco-Friendly New Year’s Resolutions to Start Your Year Off Right
It’s that time of year again. Time to ring in the new year! To help you start your year off right, I wanted to give you a few eco-friendly new year’s resolutions you might want to add to your list. Some of the most popular new year’s resolutions involve losing weight, exercising more, making more money, getting a better job and eating healthy. While these many be great resolutions and ones worth striving for, there are others which could help you make these easier to achieve. One of the most important aspects of resolution-making is that you are specific in what you want. You want to set a goal you can make, and then of course reward yourself when you do. Take a look at some simple and easy to accomplish, eco-friendly new year’s resolutions that can be done on their own or used as a catalyst for other resolutions:
Get educated on the real dangers of genetically-modified foods and learn what the Top 10 GMO foods are so that you can opt for more healthy and natural alternatives throughout the upcoming year.
Then start your year off right by making a resolution to use organic, local, non-GMO foods in at least 1 meal a day. Personally, I can feel the difference when I eat organic, fresh foods versus pre-packaged foods filled with hormones, antibiotics and other toxins. You will probably notice the difference organic food can make in your life too. This resolution alone could help jump-start any health or weight loss goals.
Make a resolution to get outside and spend at least 15-30 minutes in nature every single day. Whether you do this by going on a walk, riding your bike, playing with the kids in the yard, taking a hike or even just sitting on your porch, making a resolution to enjoy the fresh air and all the beauty that nature has to offer can help with both health and exercise resolutions.
Go out and buy a recycling bin (if you don’t already have one) and educate yourself on what kinds of things can be recycled. Once you do these simple actions, you may find it a lot easier to recycle more and waste less.
Make a personal and/or family resolution to lower your water usage by inspecting your water bill and then coming up with ways to cut your water usage by 10-20%. Some simple ways to help you reach your water-saving goal include making your own low flow toilet, fixing any leaky faucets, cutting down on shower times, using “gray water” from bathtubs to water plants, and rescheduling the time you water your lawn.
Coordinate with co-workers, research out public transportation options and figure out how you can drive less this year. The first step is doing a little research. Once you have done that, give yourself a goal of ride-sharing or taking public transportation at least one a week. If you work from home, figure out how to combine your errands and other out-of-the-house activities so that you cut down the number of times you need to drive your car each week. This will save on harmful emissions and help you save a little money too.
To reduce your vehicle’s harmful emissions and improve your fuel economy at the same time, get yourself a bottle of the Green Plus® liquid catalyst. A simple way to save money and make your existing vehicle a little bit better for the environment.
Get yourself a reusable water bottle and make a resolution to use it when you go out and about, rather than buying bottled water. You will not only save money by doing this, but you will cut down on your plastic use/waste as well.
There are many more I could add, but I figure these eco-friendly new year’s resolutions would be a good way to help you start your year off right. As a bonus, here are a few more resolutions that you won’t fail and that won’t fail you.
