Lake Baikal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Russia, is the world’s largest (by volume), oldest, and deepest lake, containing over 20% of the world’s fresh water. The lake is also a vast storehouse of frozen methane bubbles.
A beautiful chain of islands in Baa Atoll, Maldives was photographed by Sakis Papadopoulos. Baa Atoll is a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, famous for its gathering of manta rays and whale sharks.
Rainbow eucalyptus is the only eucalyptus tree indigenous to the northern hemisphere. Found mainly in the Philippines, New Guinea, and Indonesia, it thrives in tropical forests that get a lot of rain — which also makes it the only eucalyptus tree to grow in the rainforest. The tree grows up to massive 250 feet.
