Want better fuel economy….Go Metro LA
We are all trying to figure out how to get the best fuel economy and with gas prices going up again (at least they are in my area….went up $0.17 in less than a week), we need to find the best way to get where we need to go on a budget. Now I know it is nowhere near the $4+ range we saw last year, but still when you think about it, there are a lot of other things you could/should be spending money on instead of gasoline. Even if you use a good fuel additive, you can offset your fuel costs by taking advantage of the Metro lines.
I go by our city’s Metro train station almost every day and see Metro buses all throughout downtown Los Angeles. Did you know there are around 200 Metro bus lines and 4 Metro Rail lines in Los Angeles? You can pretty much get anywhere you want to go by using Metro. For those of you who don’t have a Metro station or bus stop near you, you can ride your bike to your closest stop and put your bike on the bus or train bike racks.
Going Metro is convenient, doesn’t put miles on your car, saves you the frustration of getting through morning/evening traffic, lowers emissions and overall is a very smart mode of transportation. In addition, Metro has the nation’s largest clean air fleet with more than 2,300 buses powered by clean compressed natural gas (CNG).
But really, in addition to being able to get all over downtown Los Angeles using either Metro buses or trains, you can also use Metro transportation on the weekends to go shopping in Pasadena, take your family to Universal Studios Hollywood, plan a trip out to the San Fernando Valley, visit the Queen Mary in Long Beach, etc, etc.
Face it, you and your car could use a break. It’ll help with your fuel economy and maybe give you a chance to go somewhere new…without paying the additional costs for gas, parking, etc. Try it, I’d love to know where you went on the Metro!
