Biofriendly Youth Vote Green

Whether or not you’ve been caught up and sold on the hype of global warming and the new biofriendly consciousness, voters are waving the green flag and paving the way for a greener tomorrow for us all.  There is much “evidence” and “opinion” that argues both sides of the global warming debate, but if you haven’t boarded the biofriendly train, brace yourself…  the youth of today are voicing strongly their demands for a greener planet, and a greener government.

In this TreeHugger article, 26 year-old Billy Parish, co-founder and coordinator of the Energy Action Coalition, makes clear to the House Select Committee on Global Warming and Energy Independence, that the youth of today are demanding a biofriendly government.

In the video of Mr. Parish’s address to the House Select Committee on November 5th, Mr. Parish makes clear the youth statement of principles on climate and energy with the following demands:

1.       Green jobs now – create 5 million green jobs in the clean energy movement

2.       80 by 50 – cut carbon by at least 80% by the year 2050, and by 30% by the year 2020

3.       No new coal – pass an immediate moratorium on the construction of new coal plants for a transitioning to greener energy

Environment sustainability and concern of the current climate crisis is a high priority for the new generation – they will be the ones left to clean up the residual environmental damage created by generations past.  Maybe it’s not as serious as some people believe, however, it’s clear that the clean energy movement is fast becoming a high priority on government agendas as the people voice their concerns and demands for a greener way of life.  Strap yourselves in boys and girls; this is the new green super-highway being paved by the youth of today.
