Red River of Río Tinto

The Río Tinto river in the Sierra Morena mountains of southwestern Spain is known for its red and orange color due to an extremely acidic chemical composition which contains high levels of iron and heavy metals. This area has been the source of approximately 5,000 years of ore mining, including copper, silver, gold, and other minerals and this could be the reason for the high level of acidity in the river.
