The glitz and glam of Hollywood is implementing some “green” changes to their industry, adopting a more environmentally friendly approach in the making of movie-magic. An article by the Associated Press, Hollywood Sending Mixed Climate Messages, highlights some mixed messages in Hollywood’s “Green Makeover”, however, I think I just might be more than a little impressed. True, the industry may be a high consumer of power, but let’s face it – it’s a very large part of living and what’s a world really without explosive entertainment!
Even though the idea for “rolling out the green carpet” didn’t get the go-ahead, I like the fact that Fox made the suggestion. And to then have the red carpet fashioned from recycled plastic bottles and later donated to local schools, well, I thought that was pretty neat.
The industry could do more or could do it better, but who couldn’t. If you’re not living in a tree like Tarzan and Jane (and who wouldn’t want to wear nothing but a loincloth), then you’re leaving some kind of footprint. But as Emperor Hadrian said, “Brick by brick my citizens, brick by brick”. Anything you can do is better than not doing anything at all, and I thought the article highlighted some really positive steps being taken by Hollywood.

There are over 6.7 billion people in the world – even the smallest individual effort can add up to a whole lot of biofriendly action to help get the world a lot cleaner and greener.
